1 dead after boat crashes into tree at Polk County Lake

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) – At least one person died in a boating accident on Lake Eloise early Saturday morning, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the accident occurred sometime in the early morning hours, but officers received a call about the incident around 6:50 a.m

So far only one person appears to have died in the crash, which caused a boat to crash into a cypress tree.

However, officers searched the lake in case there was more than one person on board.
