10 Animal Characters James Gunn Fell In Love With In The MCU And DCEU

James Gunn is a master storyteller who puts his characters at the center of his films. Whether it’s a film about a team of super villains and criminals, a vigilante, or a band of heroes from across the galaxy, Gunn made us fall in love with every character. While it’s not necessarily a unique achievement for a great director to have us adore his characters, James Gunn manages to make us naturally adore some of them The craziest characters in superhero history. From a talking tree with a limited vocabulary to a polka dot man who literally shoots polka dots at people, James Gunn always makes these odd characters relatable and utterly endearing.
Nowhere is this more evident than in his very impressive roster of animal characters that have come to life. With that in mind, here are the best animal characters James Gunn made us love.
10 Howard the duck
Howard the Duck doesn’t appear often in the MCU, but when he does appear we can’t help but get a little excited. Howard the Duck, voiced by Seth Green, has brief appearances in all three Guardian movies, Avengers: Endgameand plays a small role in the animated MCU series, What if…?. We’d love to see a full-fledged Howard the Duck movie or show someday, but for now, his small appearances in the MCU are enough to keep us beyond happy.
9 cosmos
After her, or at that time, his cameo appearance in Protector of the GalaxyCosmo became a permanent member of the Guardians Holiday Special and in volume 3. An unspoken rule in cinema is that whenever there is a dog on screen, the audience will always fall in love with it. However, in typical James Gunn fashion, the writer-director injects enough layers into this telekinetic canine to make Cosmo one of our favorite Guardians.
8th weasel
Weasel is a character we never thought we would fall in love with, especially considering how horrific his crimes were. Appears at James Gunn The Suicide Squad Before being “killed” almost instantly, Weasel is a mindless and rather grotesque creature whose monstrous design makes him somewhat adorable. Luckily, Weasel isn’t dead, as revealed in a post-credits scene, and we can expect to see Weasel back in the animated series in the first of James Gunn’s revamped DCU. creature commands.
7 Teefs
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was absolutely heartbreaking. The film will have you crying on more than one occasion, and that’s largely due to how immediately James Gunn cares for us about Rocket’s old friends, Batch 89. One of Rocket’s friends was Teefs, a genetically engineered walrus who was just as goofy as he was friendly. Teefs may lack intelligence, but he more than makes up for it with his kindness and friendship. Teefs will always have a place in our hearts.
6 In a hurry
As Peacemaker’s sidekick and best friend, Eagly was not only adorable but an integral part of the Peacemaker peacemaker Series and the character of Peacemaker. He will always help his human sidekick when Peacemaker is in danger, and Eagly will always be there to hug his old sidekick. Eagly may not be able to speak, but the loyalty and friendship he maintains with Peacemaker is something we all desire.
5 Floor
Much like the rest of Batch 89, Floor the adorable bunny is a deeply tragic character. The High Evolutionary cut off her limbs and gave her new ones that looked very much like a spider. In addition, the evil High Evolutionary has put a steel muzzle over her mouth. Her design is spooky and very similar to the toys in Sid’s room toy storybut her kindness and innocence make us want to cuddle this bunny.
4 Lyla
As Rocket’s first true best friend, Lylla is without a doubt Rocket’s most important character. To some extent even more important than Groot. Lylla was there to comfort Rocket from a young age and will always make him happy no matter how much torture the High Evolutionary inflicted on him. The genetically engineered Otter, like the rest of the Batch 89, quickly fell into our hearts.
3 royal shark
One of the most anticipated aspects of James Gunn The Suicide Squad King Shark was finally making its theatrical debut, and Gunn certainly didn’t disappoint. Perfectly played by Sylvester Stallone, King Shark is incredibly deadly, but due to his lack of intelligence, King Shark is another adorable and lovable animal character in a project directed by James Gunn.
Sure, he might want to eat you right away, but once you become his friend, King Shark will remain loyal to you. The Suicide Squad presented the audience with a large list of obscure characters, but King Shark easily pulled it off among the best.
2 Sebastian
Rats have a pretty tough reputation. Yes, they live in the sewers and are therefore very susceptible to infection, but they are so damn cute. Perhaps the best example of this is the enchanting Sebastian from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. When he reached out his tiny hand to introduce himself to his new friend Bloodsport, we were instantly in love. There are so many moments in the film that make us adore Sebastian even more as he continues to befriend Bloodsport by gifting him a leaf before winning him over by curling up on his lap and bloodsport from his fear before rats heals.
1 Rocket Raccoon
Rocket is without a doubt the best member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. His clever and often insulting sense of humor never fails to make us laugh, and his genius intellect makes for a totally compelling and awesome character. But no film connected us more with Rocket than the endlessly emotional film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. Not only is Rocket a phenomenal animal character, but one of the most developed and tragic characters that audiences have ever fallen in love with. Thank you James Gunn, thank you.
