MIAMI (WSVN) – A man and woman were killed after they were hit while riding bicycles on Miami’s Rickenbacker Causeway, prompting officers to temporarily close all lanes and detain one person for questioning.
Police and fire departments from the City of Miami responded at the scene of the accident near the toll booth shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators said the victims were beaten but did not specify how.
First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
The causeway has since reopened with a reverse flow of traffic to accommodate inbound and outbound traffic.
Police have arrested one person for questioning but have not given further details as they continue the investigation.
