2 dead in North Austin shooting

AUSTIN, Texas – Two men are dead Sunday night after a shooting in north Austin.

The Austin Police Department said around 5:30 p.m., officers were responding to a shooting at a Chevron gas station at 9318 N. Interstate 35 Southbound Service Road, near Rundberg Lane.

At the scene, Austin-Travis County officers and EMTs discovered 20-year-old Joshua Dienno and 19-year-old Isaac Sandoval with gunshot wounds.

Police said Dienno died at the scene, and Sandoval died hours later at a local hospital. APD investigators determined that Sandoval was under the influence of drugs when he shot his friend Dienno. He then took his own life.

APD said this case will be the city’s 10th homicide investigation in 2023.
