50 Cent’s “Fightland” boxing drama in development at Starz

perfomance Player Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has found a new fight at Starz.
The rapper/executive producer is evolving battlelandaDrama set in the turbulent world of British boxing, TVLine has found out.
The potential series will follow a retired – and disgraced – world champion fighter who is drawn to the dark side of the sport after his childhood best friend and training partner disappears. “To save his friend,” reads the official synopsis, “the stricken fighter must return to a way of life that nearly destroyed him – a way of life that cost him everything to leave behind.”
Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith (Channel 4 To run) will write the project. Jackson will appear alongside Francis Hopkinson (Wallander) and Katharine Leadbetter (woman in white).
“battleland embodies the commitment, swagger and ambition that the collaboration between STARZ and 50 Cent represents,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz, in a statement. “We are delighted to be working with Daniel and Marlon, who are brilliant writers and whose authentic perspective will bring this global story to life.”
In addition to battlelandJackson currently has the perfomance spin-offs Book II: Spirit, Book III: Raise Kanan and Book IV: Power at Starz, as well BMFwho will be returning for Season 2 soon. In addition, his G-Unit Film & Television is also developing the script series Queen Nzingamain role American gods‘ Yetide Badaki, on the network.
