55-gallon drums of suspected petroleum dumped on roadside in Tampa area, reward offered

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward for information about someone who dumped eight 55-gallon drums of suspected petroleum on a roadside in Hillsborough County.

According to a news release, the incident occurred on August 26 around 1 p.m. along Port Sutton Road off Highway 41.

Surveillance video is believed to show a Jeep Grand Cherokee that may have been associated with the landfill, the release said.

In surveillance photos, the suspect vehicle can be seen driving down the road with a trailer full of barrels, and in the next photo, the vehicle can be seen driving in the opposite direction, but with an empty trailer.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. To report tips, call 1-800-873-TIPS. Tips can be left anonymously.
