A 75-year-old homeless veteran in a wheelchair has died after being shot outside McDonald’s in South LA

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A homeless man in a wheelchair, believed to be a veteran, has died after being shot dead near a McDonald’s in South Los Angeles last week, police said.

Investigators continue to work to solve the crime.

The approximately 75-year-old man was shot dead on the 1700 block of West Century Boulevard around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died Sunday, the LAPD reported. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

According to police, two suspects, identified only as women, approached in a vehicle, one of them got out and shot the man. A vehicle description was not available. A motive for the shooting was not disclosed.

Community activists are seeking public help to solve the crime and are offering to pay for the slain man’s funeral, said Najee Ali of Project Islamic HOPE

According to Ali, the homeless man was a veteran and a double amputee, and he was shot in the head as he slept in his wheelchair outside the restaurant.
