A Florida roofer was killed in a possible lightning strike, lawmakers say

DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) – A roofing worker was killed in what is believed to be a lightning strike in Deltona, according to authorities.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said Edvin J. Velasquez Cinto, 24, was working on the roof of a home in Deltona Monday afternoon when the incident occurred.
Witnesses told officers he was standing on the roof when lightning struck him and he fell to the concrete floor.
First responders arrived just before 2 p.m. and took Velasquez Cinto to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While evidence from the crime scene and the victim’s body points to a lightning strike, a coroner will determine the official cause of death.
