A grossly underrated Netflix series is finally in the top 10

There is so much content available on Netflix at any one time that some seriously underrated originals fall through the cracks and don’t find the size of audience they truly deserve, a sentiment certainly true of Spanish crime fiction Heaven Rojo.

Co-designed by Álex Pina – the mastermind behind the global sensation money robbery – the fast-paced and sun-kissed fan favorite, it balances explosive action, gripping characters, and pitch-black comedy to deliver three seasons that are easily digestible into a single binge, given their relentless and frenetic running times that never exceed 30 minutes.

The story follows prostitutes Coral, Wendy and Gina who flee their life of servitude to go on the run, only to find themselves embroiled in a nationwide war after their old pimp and his henchmen make it their mission , making sure that the trio stays taken out by any means necessary. Given that we got 24 episodes, it obviously didn’t go to plan.

Easily one of the best Netflix shows that you very rarely hear anyone talk about, Heaven Rojo has at least managed to make an impact on the platform’s most watched list after the final season was canceled yesterday. According to FlixPatrol, the latest stand instantly cracked the top 10 in 34 countries around the world, and hopefully word of mouth will make it climb even higher.

Too many of Netflix’s episodic exclusives get canceled ahead of their time, so it’s worth checking out Heaven Rojoone of the few that has a gripping beginning, an incredible middle, and a satisfying ending.
