The feature, which originally launched for Apple Watches, was also added to iPhones with the release of iOS 11, but TikToker are again sharing the option, noting that it could be a matter of life and death.
User CJ Bathgate shared a video explaining how the “iPhone hack” made her feel safe when being followed.
Another TikToker, Sellingportland503, recently shared the feature on a podcast, pointing out that her biggest fear is being kidnapped.
“When you click the iPhone’s power button, an emergency response system is activated,” the user said.
“If you don’t press cancel, emergency services will be called automatically.”

Users simply press the top side button five times in quick succession to access the SOS emergency call
After you end the call to emergency services, your iPhone will text emergency contacts that you called 911.
Your iPhone will broadcast your current location and once you switch to SOS mode, your emergency contacts will receive updates when your location changes.
Apple announced 2022 Emergency SOS via satellite. Allows iPhone 14 users to send emergency text messages outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
The messages are sent in about 15 seconds when the user has a direct view of the sky and horizon. However, the call for help may take longer if there are obstacles such as forests or mountains in the area.
The service is possible via 24 Globalstar satellites, with users pointing their iPhones to the sky to connect to one of the devices, which will then broadcast their message to the nearest headquarters.
Users open Settings, tap Emergency SOS, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
If you use Emergency SOS via satellite, you can share your medical ID and notify your emergency contacts.
