CARSON, Calif. (KABC)– A man was found dead at a store in Carson, prompting an investigation, authorities said early Tuesday morning.

It happened at the store on the 1700 block of E. Del Amo Boulevard.

The sheriff’s department told Eyewitness News an employee found the man when he got to work around 6:15 a.m. Investigators believe the victim – who was only described as an Asian male in his 50s – could be either a worker or possibly one of the owners of the store.

“We know the victim worked late, so some incident happened here sometime during the night,” LASD Lieutenant Derrick Alfred said. “We are trying to determine whether it may have been an accident or a deliberate act.”

Alfred said the victim had serious injuries to her body and head.

The employee who found him reported seeing personal belongings of the victim nearby.

Authorities didn’t provide any details about the deal itself. Alfred believes the facility is part of some sort of import deal.

The area was cordoned off while MPs continued their investigation.
