LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man in a stolen car led police on a dangerous chase through the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday night.
The chase ended just after 11 p.m. when the suspect jumped out of the car and ran for several feet before finally surrendering near Chase Street and Oak Park Avenue in Northridge.
AIR7 HD had ended the pursuit when the suspect was in Simi Valley and eventually hit a dead end. The suspect turned and headed straight for squad cars and managed to dodge them to get out of the dead end.
The chase began in the San Fernando Valley and returned to the area where the suspect continued to drive erratically.
At times, he sped through intersections and ignored red lights on above-ground roads.
When the pursuit ended, the perpetrator parked the car and left it. Later, Los Angeles police handcuffed him after he tried to escape.
There was also a passenger in the vehicle who is believed to have been arrested.
The hunt lasted about an hour.
