Accident in Moreno Valley: Teenage driver dies after apparently driving at red light and being hit broadside by minivan

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) — A teenager has died in an accident in the Moreno Valley.

It happened Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Moreno Beach Drive and Cactus Avenue.

Investigators say the teenager was driving a gray 2001 Lexus and ran a red light, then was hit broadside at the intersection by a driver in a white Honda Odyssey.

The impact sent the Lexus into a metal traffic pole at the intersection.

The young driver died at the scene. His young passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Odyssey and her five passengers have been taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.
