Accident in Texas: wrong-way driver rams Santa’s bus in Wonderland

Officials at Santa’s Wonderland, a Christmas-themed theme park in College Station, said its bus driver, Calvin Hill, was seriously injured.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — One person is dead and two others have serious injuries after a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on a Texas freeway crashed into the shuttle bus at a popular Christmas theme park.
officials with Santa’s Wonderlanda College Station theme park that bills itself as “the biggest Christmas attraction in Texas” said Sunday the accident happened late Saturday on Highway 6 near Post Oak Mall.
KBTX reported that the driver of the SUV, who was driving in the wrong direction, died in the accident and that a passenger in that vehicle was seriously injured.
In a Facebook postSanta’s Wonderland said bus driver Calvin Hill was rescued by College Station police but also sustained serious injuries.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families affected by this tremendous tragedy,” the park said in a statement. “…Our entire Santa’s Wonderland family is praying for Calvin.”
According to Santa’s Wonderland’s website, it offers a free shuttle bus service for pickup and drop-off at Post Oak Mall, which is about 10 miles from the park.
KBTX reported that two other people were on board the bus at the time, but were not seriously injured.
The park said buses could resume Sunday and will continue for the remainder of the park season.
