Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is not only the third and final installment in the acclaimed animated saga, but also a direct sequel to Across the spider verse. The first film ended with Miles and the rest of the Spider-People defeating Kingpin and saving the multiverse. But the second film had an open ending as both sequels are part of the same big story.

Across the spider verse ended with Miles believing he was finally back home only to find out he had landed in the wrong reality, a world where his uncle still lives but an alternate version of him is a dangerous and powerful villain and holds himself captive.

For her part, Gwen Stacy has assembled a team to find Miles and help him save his world. She is in the correct reality, which means that she must ultimately travel to the alternate reality to get her friend back. Together they can then face Miguel O’Hara and the rest of the Spiderfolk while trying to stop The Spot from destroying the entire multiverse.

As with the first two films, fans are expecting Beyond the Spider-Verse to record some very surprising cameos, with many thinking that Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could appear with their own versions of Spider-Man to team up with Miles. Other theories suggest that the film will premiere a live-action version of Morales, hinting at his upcoming solo adventure in live-action format, which Sony has already confirmed.
