AEW’s Kenny Omega on CM Punk Fight: “Let It Go”

After returning to AEW at full gear Last Saturday, Kenny Omega opened up about the backstage brawl with CM Punk that led to his two-month suspension.
Omega and The Young Bunks are due out tonight AEW: Dynamitewhich airs at 8/7c on TBS and takes place in Chicago – the hometown of punk.
“There are things that no one can talk about, so I would encourage people to let it go,” Omega said sports illustrated. “It doesn’t change the fact that we want teamwork at AEW. I don’t even mean me and my opponent by implication. It also means the referee, the fans, the people who set up the ring, everyone – even a technical error can ruin the memory of a game… So I encourage people to walk away from it because there’s no information that can be published. While I can’t speak about it, I want fans to know that I still want what’s best for pro wrestling.”
As you will recall, a scuffle broke out in September after Punk during a media scramble after the event for All out. Punk reportedly exchanged words with the Young Bucks and Omega, which resulted in a brawl. Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks, Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler were subsequently suspended.
Omega went on to say that recent tragedies like the death of Jason David Frank and the mass shooting at Club Q put things into perspective for him. “This isn’t Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks vs. CM Punk,” the wrestler explained. “It’s people trying to show their craft. You can boo Kenny Omega or the Young Bucks or CM Punk, but I hope people don’t forget that we are people struggling to show our art.”
