Airbnb announces crackdown on parties in Florida ahead of holiday weekends

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Airbnb is cracking down on Florida guests ahead of the Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends.
The booking site said it expects about 300 million guests this year and is working to reduce the risk of disruptive parties.
The company has taken steps to identify and prevent potentially high-risk whole property bookings from being made by guests.
Their system checks guest accounts and looks at their history to find positive or negative reviews. It also checks how far away they are from the listing and whether it was booked at the last minute.
The following criteria apply to guests making reservations over the summer holidays:
- For reservations for one or two nights: Increased restrictions on reservation attempts to block certain bookings deemed high-risk.
- Anti-Party Certificate: Guests with local reservations must confirm they understand that Airbnb prohibits parties. Violation of this rule will result in suspension or removal from the platform.
The Company will take additional measures to reduce the risk of unauthorized or disruptive parties:
- A 24-hour security hotline at +1 855-635-7754 for hosts and guests to contact the security team for assistance
- Offers a free noise sensor to hosts in the US
- Split tips for hosts to avoid parties in their homes
- Assisting in law enforcement investigations
