Al Roker Gives Health Update – Watch Today’s Carol Surprise

It’s just like Buddy the Elf taught us: actually the best way to spread the Christmas spirit is sing out loud for all to hear.
Following Al Roker’s recent discharge from the hospital today‘s co-hosts and staff surprised an emotional Roker with a Christmas carol on his doorstep. Roker had been in and out of the hospital since mid-November with blood clots in his leg and lung. He was first released on Thanksgiving, but was readmitted the following day due to complications and remained in the hospital until early December.
As can be seen in the video below, today Staffers — led by co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie — gathered on Roker’s doorstep to sing “Jingle Bells” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” (or, in this case, “Al Be Home for Christmas”), which moved the weatherman to tears.
“I just want to say thank you to all of you,” he remarked after his colleagues’ first song. “It’s been a long, hard grind and I’ve missed you all so much. All those faces – it just means the world to me and our family.”
It wasn’t all sentimental, however: “I think we have new candidates for America’s Got Talent‘ Roker quipped. “You have that for yourself.”
“We love you so much, Al,” Kotb told him. “Every single person couldn’t wait to come out here and sing for you.”
