Alan Wake 2 players report audio and lip sync issues on PC and console

Players tackling the early chapters of Alan Wake 2 are reporting a number of audio and graphical errors, as well as significant issues with lip sync and subtitle timing.

While Remedy Entertainment’s long-awaited second installment in the Alan Wake series launched on October 27 to positive reviews and fan acclaim, numerous gamers also took to social media to report a number of audio glitches and other issues affecting the opening installments of the game.

Players have encountered issues with both the PC and console versions of Alan Wake 2. Many are reporting intermittent audio blackouts or a complete loss of sound shortly after the first cutscenes trigger. Others were frustrated by lip sync timing issues and mistimed subtitles.

“Does anyone know how to fix cutscene audio issues on PC?” Briguy241 asked in replies to a Reddit post tracking issues with Remedy Entertainment’s latest title. “The second cutscene of the game is almost unwatchable, the sound and voice are completely missing. Mouths are completely missing.”

Others have noted instances where audio quality varies significantly during cutscenes and gameplay. “Is the sound of some dialogue a bit muffled or poor quality for other people on the PS5,” wrote Redditor Isitbroke57. “I wonder if this is intentional or maybe just an audio glitch.”

IGN has reached out to Remedy Entertainment for comment on the errors.
