Allison Williams knew “Get Out” would be nominated for an Oscar

“Who says that?” Williams marveled at her confidence in Jordan Peele’s directorial debut.

Allison Williams was confident that Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out, would be a smash for the Academy Awards.

Williams, who starred alongside Daniel Kaluuya in the racially charged thriller, revealed she wasn’t shy about generating Oscar buzz for the film even before it went into production.

“Before I went to film it, I told my publicist that I thought it would be nominated for an Oscar,” Williams told Entertainment Weekly. “She said this girl is delusional. Who says that? What pompous madman makes a movie and is like this movie I picked gets nominated for an Oscar? Then, much to her shock, I happened to be right.”

The 2017 film was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Daniel Kaluuya for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. Writer-director Peele won Best Original Screenplay.

The Girls graduate recalled the sheer “joy” of being on set in Alabama.

“We shot ‘Get Out’ very quickly. My memories relate less to the torques and more to the afternoons and weekends we spent,” Williams said. “Everybody would kind of come into this house I rented and we’d all hang out and talk together. I have such happy memories of that experience. It was so intense and exhausting and overwhelming and rewarding. It was just great. I don’t have a bad word to say about it.”

Williams has recently considered trusting her instincts as an actress, particularly when it comes to being a “Nepo baby,” aka the kid of famous parents (Williams is the daughter of news anchor Brian Williams).

“It doesn’t feel like a loss to admit that,” Williams told Wired of the label’s owner. “When you trust your own abilities, I think it becomes very easy to acknowledge them.”

Williams, who also stars in and executive produces upcoming James Wan horror film M3GAN, added that she thrives on exploring different genres. “All of these things are just super fun for me to play around with — going to the bumpers, what I can do with this body and face and my voice and my self, with what I can do with my psyche,” she said.

The actress will star in the upcoming series Fellow Travelers alongside Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer. The series follows the lives and fleeting romance of the two leading men through purges, wars, protests and plagues. Williams likened filming “Fellow Travelers” to seeing “how the sausage is made in our shop and being able to make a meaningful contribution before filming begins and even after filming is over.”
