An Illinois high school student was arrested for bringing an airsoft gun onto campus

A student was arrested and charged Tuesday after allegedly bringing an airsoft gun to his high school in Lincolnshire, Illinois.

School resource officials responded to a report that a student inside the school building was in possession of a handgun, village officials told Fox 32.

The Stevenson High School student was arrested around noon.

The officers were then able to locate and arrest the suspect based on a description provided by a witness.

According to village officials, the boy was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun.

The student was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor charges and handed over to a guardian.

There have been no reports of threats against students, teachers or school staff, village officials said.
