A court in Romania has convicted this misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate can be arrested for an additional 30 days, until February 27, while prosecutors conduct their investigations into charges of organized crime, human trafficking and rape. Tate was first arrested on December 29 in Romania along with his brother and two Romanian women.

Friday’s verdict was the second extension of Tate’s sentence that the court had granted. The judge December decided 30 to extend the detention of both men from 24 hours to 30 days. The judge said the extensions were granted to give prosecutors time to build their case.

Tate’s attorneys appealed the previous extension, but the appeal was dismissed.

Tate is known for spreading hate speech and misogyny online among his millions of social media followers. He and his associates had been under criminal investigation in Romania since April last year.

The group is said to have formed an organized crime group in Romania in early 2021 to “commit” human trafficking in Romania, the US and Britain to “receive important financial gains,” prosecutors said.

The suspects were accused of “collaborating with the aim of recruiting, harboring and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content to be viewed on specialized websites in exchange for payment,” according to prosecutors.

The Associated Press reported that Romania’s organized crime agency, DIICOT, has identified six victims who were sexually exploited and subjected to “acts of physical violence and psychological coercion” following raids on Tate’s alleged operation in late December.
