Anderson Cooper, Cohen’s co-host of CNN New Year’s Eve, confirmed that the Bravo producer did not see Seacrest during the show.
Andy Cohen has wrapped up Ryan Seacrest’s long-running New Year’s Eve drama.
Seacrest previously said on Live! with Kelly and Ryan” that Cohen ignored Seacrest’s attempt to say “hello” to him during the show. While Cohen’s CNN co-host Anderson Cooper waved at Seacrest, the American Idol producer claimed Cohen gave him the cold shoulder and “didn’t turn around” to greet him 10 feet from the stage.
Bravo mega-producer Cohen responded to Seacrest’s statement and called Cooper to clarify whether or not Seacrest was seen during the live broadcast on a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live podcast.
“I didn’t see Anderson turn around and wave. Which Anderson will normally do, and I should, I should call him back and ask him about it openly. But I think he’ll yell at me if I do it…usually when he waves to Ryan he says to me, “Hey, there’s Ryan.” You know what I mean?” said Cohen. “And then I turn and wave, or I say, ‘There’s Ryan,’ but he didn’t. Do you want me to call him and yell at him about it? OK. Hold on . Okay, here I go. Oh god, he’s gonna be so mad at me. Oh god. I’m kinda scared.”
Cohen said of Cooper, “It’s a you and me thing because on the show he said you turned around very politely and waved at him and told him you had a good show and I didn’t turned around. My point that I just made on the show was usually when one of us sees Ryan and turns around and waves, we’ll say to the other, ‘Oh, there’s Seacrest.’ So I say you didn’t say that to me this year.”
Cooper confirmed, “No, I haven’t. I accidentally turned around. There were a few times I checked to see if he was around and I hadn’t seen him. And then there was one time I just turned around and he was over there where, you know, they do that every hour, kind of a countdown. I saw him and we both waved and I said, you know, ‘Have a great New Year’ and you were talking, I don’t know, you were involved like a producer…”
Cohen replied: “I cared about the show like that? Right.”
Cooper continued, “Right. And I mean, it all happened so fast, it wasn’t a big deal. Every year we always say hello to him so I assumed maybe you had done that before and I was just catching up… I’m sorry if that was a failure on my part but I hope that didn’t help or so. I mean, I think I thought I saw you, you know, you’re waving or something.”
Cohen added, “I was trying to get Duran Duran’s attention. Good. Well, I don’t want to keep you from your busy day. But thanks for clarifying that. That’s OK. That was a better call than the first call.”
Radio guest John Hill summarized to Cohen, “So you didn’t purposely not say hi to Ryan?” to which Cohen replied, “No, I didn’t see him.”
Seacrest, whom Cohen called a “loser” last year when he was drunk on air and later apologized, backed CNN’s new controversial alcohol ban with Cooper and Cohen in 2023.
