Apple starts selling adapters, cables and other accessories just moments after announcing the iPhone 15, and new AirPods require a NEW charging cable

Apple just unveiled the new iPhone 15 – and the tech giant wasted no time in cashing in on the announcement.
Just minutes after the company’s “Wonderlust” event concluded, consumers spotted a new USB-C to Lightning adapter for sale at the Apple Store for $29.
While some praised Apple for the “affordable” price, others are outraged – many users shared on social media that they could get higher quality cables for less than $10.
Also gracing the Apple Store are new iPhone 15 cases for up to $59, a fabric wallet with MagSafe, and USB-C charging cables for the same price as the adapter.

Apple announced Tuesday that the iPhone 15 and new AirPods Pro will support USB-C charging
Rumors from last year suggested that Apple would introduce the USB-C port in the new iPhone 15.
However, at Tuesday’s unveiling, the company also announced the new connector for the latest version of its AirPods Pro earbuds and EarPods wired headphones.
“USB-C has become a widely accepted standard, so we’re bringing it to the iPhone,” a presenter said during Apple’s launch event on Tuesday.
The USB-C port for iPhone 15 allows consumers to charge the smartphone using the same cable used to power Mac and iPad.
The move comes as a result of new EU regulations passed last year that require all small and medium-sized electronic devices to use a standard charging cable by the end of 2024, in an effort to reduce the number of cables users need for their devices and waste on them long term.
However, some experts have raised concerns about the number of obsolete cables the change will create in the short term as Apple moves away from its proprietary Lightning connector.
Consumers have expressed their own issues with the new charging adapter, particularly because of its $29 price tag.

Apple has also added several cases with MagSafe priced between $49 and $59, as well as a new iPhone FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe for $59.
FineWoven is the company’s replacement for leather as it becomes more environmentally friendly.
According to Apple, the wallet is “made from a durable and elegant micro-twill with a soft, suede-like feel.”
“The material consists of 68 percent post-consumer recycling and has significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to leather.”
The new iPhone 15, starting at $799, features an all-new textured matte finish, a ceramic shield and is available in five new colors – an attractive pink, yellow, green, blue and black.
The smartphone also features an updated camera and iOS 17 with NameDrop, Live Voicemail and several other new features.

“In addition, this year we are taking the power of computational photography to new levels with a 48-megapixel main camera with a new 24-megapixel standard for super-high-resolution photos, a new 2x telephoto option and next-generation portraits.”
