When A black lady sketch show returns next year for its fourth season on HBO, but it will be without Ashley Nicole Black.
The departure of the actress and writer was announced on Tuesday by series creator/star Robin Thede.
“We are forever indebted to our sister, Emmy-winning actress Ashley Nicole Black, for her contributions as a writer and performer A black lady sketch show three seasons left an indelible mark on our series and comedy history,” Thede said in a statement diversity. “She will always be a part of our family and we cheer for her as she continues on her path to greatness.”
Black, who just got off an Emmy-winning writing job Teddy Lassowill next appear in the upcoming 10-part comedy coming to Apple TV+ evil monkey, with Vince Vaughn. She addressed them Black Lady Sketch Show Departure on Tuesday Twitter.
“I’m so happy that the fantastic Black Lady Sketch Show The team will be back for a new season,” she wrote. “While making the difficult decision to leave the show, I have can not Hardly Wait to see what they come up with!”
To fill the void left by Black, Thede has Tamara Jade (The voice Season 19), Angel Laketa Moore (atypical) and relative newcomer DaMya Gurley to join Black Lady Sketch Show Ensemble as featured players in Season 4.
“Angel, DaMya and Tamara are the absolute role models for the next generation of comedians,” enthused Thede diversity. “They sing, dance, play and make you laugh! They will surprise and delight viewers with their endless talents and we can’t wait to introduce them to the world!”
