Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to the death of the ‘original JLS member’ aged 35

POP STAR Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to a backing dancer who performed with his group JLS.

The 35-year-old singer took to social media to share a heartfelt message following the tragic death of artist Jack Pointer Mackenzie at the age of 35.

The talented dancer toured with the pop group throughout their career from 2009 to 2021 after JLS rose to fame on The X Factor.

Aston wrote: “RIP Captain,” with prayer hand and hand raised Emojis.

He added: “Original JLS member.”

Aston, whose bandmates include Marvin Humes, Ortise Williams and JB Gill, shared another touching post.

The dad-of-three shared a video of Jack showing off his incredible dancing skills to his JLS boys on stage.

He wrote: “Captain Jack always has the vibes of 2009 and beyond!!”

“A phenomenal team member!”

Base Dance Studios shared a tribute on Instagram with a photo of Jack that read: “A unique gift that will be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.”

“Jack Nathaniel Pointer Mackenzie.”

Jack’s cause of death is currently unknown.

Many fans quickly posted their condolences.

One wrote: “A huge loss to the community. Best wishes to his loved ones. Fly High Jack.”

Another wrote: “A beautiful dancer, teacher and person.”

A third added: “No words, so talented and a truly lovely person.”

According to a tribute website, Jack’s funeral took place on October 2, 2023.

Over the course of his career he has worked with numerous A-listers – including Justine Bieber, Camilla Cabello and Hozier.
