Dillion Harrell says his mum, sister and best friend surprised him with tickets on his birthday.
Álvarez hit the three-run shot with two outs in the ninth inning ahead of Robbie Ray to end the game and give the Astros an 8-7 win in their playoff opener and best-of-five series.
“It was my birthday, so my mum, my sister and my best friend surprised me with tickets. No lie, my sister said, “I’ve got her in the perfect spot to see Jordan hit a homer.” I will never hear the end of her statement that she called it 🤣,” Harrell told KHOU 11 News.
Harrell said he’s been an Astros fan his entire life.
“I remember my mom taking me to games to see Berkman, Biggio and Bagwell play,” he said. “Seeing the golden era of Astros baseball is really special. Just to be able to witness Jordan hit that home run personally was something to remember. Having the ball he did it with is a priceless memory that I will carry with me forever.”
Harrell said he has no intention of selling the ball and will likely lock it away and keep it to himself. The only one he would be willing to give the ball to is Álvarez himself.
