VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — At least 10 students were treated Thursday morning after a medical emergency at Van Nuys Middle School.
Authorities received an initial call about possible overdoses at the school around 10:30 a.m., but the Los Angeles Fire Department has not confirmed that they are actually treating overdose victims. At least four of them were transported to the hospital.
Those being treated for the unspecified medical emergency are between the ages of 12 and 15.
The LAFD initially expected about four patients, but that number quickly increased. Officials say some students may have run and hidden in classrooms when emergency responders arrived at the scene.
