Auburn University is investigating explicit videos alleging misconduct by student athletes

AUBURN, Alabama (WRBL) — Auburn University has opened an investigation into a disturbing incident involving a Twitter account that shared multiple sexually explicit videos and images, alleging that an Auburn University athlete had his encounters secretly recorded and shared them in a group chat. The creator of the Twitter account also claimed that the student athlete filmed his teammates without their knowledge.
The Twitter account was subsequently suspended Thursday afternoon after being active for almost two weeks.
Jennifer Wood Adams, Ph.D.Executive Director of the Office of Public Affairs of the President, shared the following statement:
“We are aware of the situation and take the matter very seriously. The competent authorities carry out a thorough examination. Indefinite bans were imposed for violations of established Auburn Athletics department policies. No further comment is forthcoming at this time.”
The incident sparked concern and drew attention on campus and in the wider community. Many are wondering who shared the videos and allegations. Debate continues as to whether their actions could be viewed as revenge porn or as defamation of alleged bad behavior by student athletes.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have relevant information about this incident to come forward and help with the investigation.
WRBL will update you as soon as possible.
