AUSTIN, Texas — As this season’s coldest air yet approaches, Austin Pets Live! (APA!) asks for help housing dogs.
The shelter said It needs dozens of dogs in foster homes by Thursday because it doesn’t have enough space in its indoor kennels.
The short-term care would only be needed until the cold weather passes, leaving foster families only until Monday to adopt a dog.
If you are interested in fostering a dog this weekend, email firstname.lastname@example.org or drop by the APA’s Town Lake Animal Center at 1156 W. Cesar Chavez St. between 12 noon and 6 p.m
If you want to help APA! in this time of need, but can’t groom a dog by monday, so can you make a cash donation or donate needed supplies to be shipped within two days or dropped off at APA’s Town Lake location in front of Building C.
APA! asks for donations for the following items:
- Blankets (preferably small and made of fleece; no sleeping bags)
- medium and large dog coats
- moveable ceilings
- To plan
- waterproof/self-warming dog blankets
- self-warming heating pads
- space heaters
- heat lamps
APA! said some donated items will be sent to the neighboring shelters it supports.
