Austin police say two people were killed and one injured in a shopping district shooting

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Two people were killed and one other was critically injured after a shooting Thursday near a major shopping district in Austin, Texas authorities said.

Austin Police said the shooting took place inside a business and there appeared to be no danger to the public. No one was arrested, police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The authorities did not initially announce any further details. The shooting happened near a shopping district called The Arboretum, where several police vehicles were at the scene north of the city.

According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, two adults were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Another person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and two others were being checked for minor injuries, authorities said.
