Austin Trail of Lights returns to the traditional format this winter

The annual celebration of Christmas lights has had to be adjusted in recent years due to COVID-19.

AUSTIN, Texas—This Winter, the 58th Annual Austin light trail will return to its traditional format after two years of pandemic-related adjustments.

From December 8th to December 23rd, guests can walk through the path instead of driving it. The trail is closed on Mondays. There will also be a public Night Lights Preview Party on December 2nd and the Austin Trail of Lights Fun Run on December 3rd.

The annual tradition of 2 million lights has been dubbed by both as one of the country’s best holiday displays United States today and CNN. It welcomes 400,000 guests from central Texas and around the world each year.

“HEB is honored to continue to sponsor Austin’s longest-running holiday tradition and is grateful to the Trail of Lights Foundation for their passion and dedication to keeping the event free for half of the public nights. Because of their efforts, the Austin Trail of Lights continues to bring magic to guests and will come back even stronger in 2022,” said Leslie Sweet, Director of Public Affairs at HEB.

General admission remains free seven of the 14 nights, with children under 12 always free. Additional ticket options will be available later this fall. Up to 50 private holiday companies are also there bookable from now on.
