Avalon canceled by ABC: Neve Campbell drama stalls

ABC won’t do it avalon After all: The broadcaster is scrapping the upcoming drama with Neve Campbell, as TVLine has learned, despite a direct series order.

The series, based on a short story by Michael Connelly (whose works inspired Bosch and The Lincoln Attorney) was set to play Campbell as LA Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy, who runs a small office on Catalina Island. With more than a million tourists flocking to the island each year, Detective Searcy is drawn into a career-defining mystery that challenges everything she knows about herself and the island. Catalina Island is “a job no career-oriented LA cop wants,” according to the official synopsis, “but Nic soon discovers that Avalon needs her precious detective skills more than she could have imagined.”

David E Kelley (Big little lies), who also writes and is an executive producer The Lincoln Attorney for Netflix, should continue to serve as a series creator avalon, which received a series order in February and was due to premiere in mid-season. Campbell was cast as the series’ lead back in August; Production of the pilot was completed earlier this month.
