Average gas prices in Los Angeles, Orange County, fall to their lowest since early March

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell Sunday for the 17th straight day, down 1.5 cents to $5,131, the lowest since March 3.
The average price has fallen 50-fold in the 53 days since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, falling $1.363, including 1.9 cents on Saturday, according to data from the AAA and Oil Price information service. It’s 18.5 cents down from a week ago and 57.4 cents down from a month ago, but 41.5 cents up from a year ago.
Orange County’s median price fell for the 16th straight day, down 1.3 cents to $5,012, its lowest amount since March 3. It is 19.4 cents down from a week ago and 56.2 cents down from a month ago, but 32.8 cents up from a year ago. Orange County’s median price is down 47 times in 53 days since rising to a record $6.357 on Oct. 5 and down $1.345, including 1.9 cents on Saturday.
According to Doug Shupe, corporate communications manager for the Automobile Club of Southern California, the cheapest gas stations in Southern California now charge less than $4.40 a gallon.
The national median price fell 1.1 cents to $3,555 for the 18th straight day. It’s 11.6 cents down from a week ago and 20.5 cents down from a month ago, but 15.8 cents up from a year ago. The national median price has fallen 25 cents over the past 18 days, including 1.2 cents on Saturday. It is $1,461 lower than the record $5,016 set on June 14th.
