Beto O’Rourke, Governor Greg Abbott make stops in Southeast Texas

O’Rourke visited three churches in Beaumont and one in Port Arthur on Sunday. Governor Greg Abbott will visit Beaumont on Monday.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott and gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke make stops across the state, including some in Southeast Texas, ahead of the 2022 Texas midterm elections.

O’Rourke visited three churches in Beaumont and one in Port Arthur on Sunday. He shared photos of his visits in a series of recent Facebook posts.

These churches were Paradise Baptist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Strong Tower Ministries.

The Democratic nominee met with Beaumont Mayor Robin Mouton, Port Arthur Mayor Thurman Bartie, and many other Southeast Texans during his visit.

O’Rourke said he was grateful to be received in the churches with “such kindness and warmth”.

Governor Greg Abbott also plans to visit Southeast Texas soon. According to a press release, the governor will hold a roundtable on Monday, October 17, 2022 in Beaumont to address the “fentanyl crisis.”

State and regional law enforcement agencies will discuss Texas’ “comprehensive approach to addressing the growing national fentanyl crisis.”

The roundtable will be held at the Texas Department of Public Safety’s headquarters in Beaumont, 7200 Eastex Freeway.

Early voting for the 2022 Midterm Election will take place on October 24, 2022. Election day is Tuesday 8th November 2022.
