The FIFA World Cup in Qatar has once again thrilled football fans from around the world as Ecuador has already given the crowd one of the greatest moments they will never forget with a headshot on goal. Pity Jungkook from bts stole the thunder with the release of “Dreamers” during the opening ceremony.
In fact, the World Cup will provide fans with many memorable moments as each game progresses. What Jungkook gave everyone were words of encouragement for all players. “We are the dreamers. Because we believe it,” he sang.
This year’s World Cup was fraught with controversy before the first game even started. A number of celebrities decided to boycott the opening ceremony, which made headlines around the world. The Middle Eastern nation has come under scrutiny from human rights activists over its treatment of migrant workers building World Cup stadiums, as well as Qatar’s stance on LGBTQ+ issues.
Despite attracting a worldwide audience and massive paydays, FIFA struggled to find the main actors for the opening ceremony. Reportedly, Shakira has been offered a mega deal. Meanwhile, Dua Lipa was rumored to be in the running, but she made it clear she wasn’t interested, citing Qatar’s human rights record. “I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup,” she said. Even rock legend Rod Stewart recently remarked that he turned down a seven-figure settlement for a concert in Qatar.
At the end of the day, it was kpop phenomenon Jungkook who took the stage, much to the delight of his millions of BTS ARMY followers.
