Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard approved

Britain’s competition regulator has finally approved Microsoft’s $69 billion takeover of “Call of Duty” maker Activision Blizzard after the restructured deal essentially addressed its earlier concerns.

Activision had agreed to sell its streaming rights to Ubisoft Entertainment in August, and Microsoft last month offered remedies to ensure the terms of the sale were enforceable by the regulator, easing some remaining concerns.

“The new deal will prevent Microsoft from blocking competition in cloud gaming at a time when that market is booming, and maintain competitive prices and services for UK cloud gaming customers,” the UK Competition and Markets Authority said.
