C-SPAN Anchor is silently closing MAGA Rep. Andy Biggs’ false allegation made Jan. 6

Far-right MP Andy Biggs (R-AZ) tried on Friday to claim that no one was tried and prosecuted for sedition in the January 6 attack on the Capitol, only for a C-SPAN moderator to cool down his patently false claim fact checked.
Taking calls from viewers while performing on C-SPAN Washington Journala rite of passage for guests of the program, MAGA lawmakers were soon being grilled by callers over former President Donald Trump’s promise to pardon rioters in the Capitol.
“Trump wants to pardon the traitors convicted of seditious conspiracy? light up! What the hell is wrong with you Republicans?!” exclaimed a caller from Oregon.
“I appreciate the call and I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying, but I think you’re talking about the former president who said that if elected he would give some of those arrested a pardon or clemency grant and prosecuted on January 6,” Biggs replied.
“Not all were convicted of seditious treason. Actually there weren’t any! So that’s important to understand,” he said confidently. “Secondly, I would say that many of them have been convicted of trespassing. And I think that’s also important to understand.”
The next caller, meanwhile, went on to grill Biggs for his sympathetic attitude toward the riot and the MAGA rioters behind it. In that case, the Mississippi viewer questioned whether those who “conspired” with Trump and former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark “should be held accountable,” going on to question why Biggs was around after the riots asked for his own pardon.
“I didn’t ask for an apology. That has been completely debunked,” the Arizona congressman replied, repeating his previous denial of the reported motion. “But you know, lies persist, so this will happen, and I’m big enough to resist perpetual lying this way.”
Lawmakers added: “There is no indication that anyone has tried to bring down the government with someone named Jeff Clark, who I don’t think I’ve ever met. So thank you for continuing the wrong narrative of the left.”
Immediately after the Trump-pro-Trump lawmakers finished railing against the “lies” spread about the Jan. 6 attack, Washington Journal Host Greta Brawner casually chimed in to correct Biggs’ own untruths.
“Congressman, United States today had this headline back in November 2022 that Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was found guilty of seditious conspiracy,” she said flatly.
Indeed, Rhodes and co-defendant Kelly Meggs – leader of the Florida chapter of the far-right militia – were both convicted last year of seditious conspiracy for plotting an armed rebellion to stop confirmation of President Joe Biden’s election victory. Both men face up to 20 years in prison.
“Oh, OK,” Biggs stammered in response. “Yeah, well, I haven’t been prosecuting this case.”
