Can of baked beans signed by great singer is set to become “most expensive in the world” at auction

A can of baked beans is set to become the most expensive in the world – says Lady In Red star Chris de Burgh’s signature.
The much-maligned melancholy crooner, 74, gave his merchandise boss the signed Heinz can as a joke gift during a tour in 2012.
Now it’s for sale along with a photo and a vinyl record, both signed by the singer whose 1986 No. 1 hit was the soundtrack to countless weddings.
The can of beans, which costs £1.40 in the supermarket, is said to fetch at least £80.
A spokesman for Graham Budd Auctions said: “Buyers will have the opportunity to bid on what could be the most expensive tin of baked beans in the world.”
One fan said: “Eating beans from a tin signed by Chris de Burgh is on the wish list – would definitely be a real eye-catcher too in hindsight.”
But soft rock hero De Burgh’s daughter, former Miss World Rosanna Davison, 39, said: “As they are 11 years old I hope whoever buys them doesn’t eat them.”
She added: “Considering what’s going on in the world right now, it’s nice to see something fun and light-hearted.”
The auction in Wellingborough, Northants, takes place on Wednesday.
