Can Wimpod or Golisopod be shiny during Pokemon GO TCG event?

Pokemon GO just moves on after the conclusion of GO Fest and the recent Adventure Week event, now overlapping with the Pokemon TCG in a special event. This also brings Wimpod and Golisopod into play for the first time, but the question is can they be shiny or not?

The past few months have seen a steady stream of newly added Pokémon, and the Season of Alola has brought us plenty of them.

This continued last week with the addition of Tyrunt and Amaura as part of GO’s season, and now it’s time for two more to join the mix.

Who are Wimpod and Golisopod?

Wimpod is a Bug/Water-type Pokémon introduced during the seventh generation of games Pokemon sun and moon. This Turn Tail Pokémon might seem pretty weak on its own, but it packs quite a powerful evolution.

By using a whopping 400 Wimpod Candy in Pokemon GO, you can evolve Wimpod into Golisopod, the hard-scale Pokémon. This retains the bug/water typing and has a very unique ability in the mainline games known as the emergency exit. This probably won’t be implemented in Pokemon GO in any way, but you never know when they’ll change mechanics in the future.

Can Wimpod or Golisopod be Shiny during Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Event?

Niantic has taken care of the introduction of new shiny Pokemon Pokemon GO in different ways over the years.

The typical way is to add a new Pokemon without a shiny shape to the game first, and then add a shiny shape later. However, there are also circumstances when a new Pokémon is added to the game for the first time alongside its shiny variant.

Unfortunately, while Wimpod and Golisopod will be added to the game for the Pokemon GO TCG crossover event, they won’t arrive in their shiny forms either.

This certainly isn’t a surprise considering the typical regular supplements like Wimpod and Golisopod would fall under this, but it would have been nice to see nonetheless. Can Wimpod or Golisopod be shiny during Pokemon GO TCG event?
