The Lightning‘s “WestAllen” will indeed be together – and Not Physically separated by this, that, or the other crazy thing – as the last standing Arrowverse series hits its final season.
Speaking to TVLine on Saturday night at the Barbara Berlanti Heroes Gala to benefit F*ck Cancer, The LightningLead actress Candice Patton admitted that “I don’t know much” about what’s planned for the ninth and final season since it only has two episodes. “But I think it’s going to be very Barry and of course Iris-heavy to say goodbye to her in a way that fans will like.
“They have a legacy to live up to,” Iris’ actor pointed out, “so hopefully we’ll make it happen. I am excited [what happens]also.
After two episodes of the abridged 13-episode farewell run, Patton said, “It’s a lot of Barry and Iris. You will not be separated. They’re together and they’re finding out as a team. I feel like they’re a strong superhero team this season.”
Could this collaboration be fruitful enough to (Hm) to get the WestAllen family up and running as the super couple will have two grown runabout kids in the future? “That’s what I’m alluding to” in reference to her “legacy,” Patton said. “I feel like at some point we need to put in place what we have already determined is going to happen in the future.
“I can’t say for sure [that will happen], but hopefully we can pull this off,” she added. “That’s something I’d like to see for the fans.”
As for their other desires, hopes and dreams The LightningIn the final season of , Patton thinks it would be “really awesome” and also “important” to “let some of the heavy hitters, the fan favorites, come back.”
“What I take away a lot from the show is that our guest stars really make the show,” she explained. “Obviously Grant [Gustin] and I and all the other actors are the leads, but I think what makes our show so special is that we’ve had so many incredible guest stars that fans feel connected to, and I really hope some of the fan favorites come back. “
During filming for the first of her very last episodes as Iris, Patton admits, “I haven’t really gotten over the emotions yet…. It feels like any other time of year.” But in the meantime, “I think everyone just has a deeper sense of gratitude, so every day feels a little bit more fun. I think we’re more present and enjoying the moments a little bit more because we know they’re not going to happen every year.” (With reporting by Lauren Piester)
