Cannes Winners List: Palme d’Or 2022 goes to…

Complete List: All the winners of the 75th Cannes Film Festival in one place.

After two weeks of breathtaking world cinema on the Croisette, the 75th Cannes Film Festival has finally come to an end. As new films from some of the world’s top authors debuted during the festival, all eyes were on the Palme d’Or as attendees tried to predict which films would be honored with one of cinema’s most prestigious trophies. Today the wait is finally over, because the jury awards all the main prizes of the festival at the awards ceremony.

Forest Whitaker received an honorable Palme d’Or to kick off the celebrations, and Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise also received an honorable Palme d’Or as part of a celebratory celebration of his career. And “The Worst Ones” and “Joyland” were the big winners in the Un Certain Regard competition. But that was the easy part.

When it came to the main competition, the judges had their hands full. This year’s competition line-up included new work from legendary filmmakers (David Cronenberg and Claire Denis), Cannes favorites (Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Arnaud Desplechin) and exciting new voices (Lukas Dhont). Several past Palme d’Or recipients compete, with some filmmakers even being two-time winners seeking a third trophy. But anything can happen last Saturday in Cannes and as there can only be one Palme d’Or winner, expect the unexpected.

No matter which films the jury chooses, there is no avoiding the inevitable heated debate about the ensuing results. Cannes awards are notoriously divisive (the 1999 Palme d’Or was still being renegotiated this week), and Vincent Lindon’s jury will likely have a lot to answer for at their press conference immediately after the awards ceremony.

If you want to follow the awards ceremony in real time, Cannes will broadcast the event live. Otherwise, read on for the full list of 75th annual Cannes Film Festival award winners, updated live as the awards are rolled out.
