Central Kyiv rocked by explosions after months of silence

Explosions rocked Kyiv early Monday morning after months of relative calm in the Ukrainian capital.
The attack appeared to be the result of missile attacks, reports the Associated Press.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported explosions in the Shevchenko district, a large area in central Kyiv that includes several government offices.
Video footage shared online showed a huge plume of smoke hanging over the neighborhood.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have been asked for comments.

Kyiv has come under multiple attacks in the weeks following Russia’s full-scale invasion in late February, but has been relatively quiet in recent months as fighting continued in eastern and southern Ukraine.
The latest blasts in Kyiv come two days after a blast damaged a vital bridge linking Russia with occupied Crimea. Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukrainian special forces; Ukraine has not claimed to be behind it.
This is an evolving story.
