Check out this gem in Tampa Bay: the Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch

ODESSA, Fla. (WFLA) – This summer we bring you a glimpse of some Tampa Bay gems to explore with the family.

Brianda Villegas from 8 On Your Side took us this week Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch in Odesa.

The ranch was established 17 years ago when Brenda and Frank Crum purchased property in the township of Keystone.

“My husband is a businessman and he asked: what should we do with this property? So we started getting involved with animals, probably because I come from an agricultural background. That’s how I grew up,” said Brenda Crum, owner of Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch.

Then they decided to raise alpacas on their newly acquired land.

“Every year you can shear them and remove the fibers. You can do something with these fibers,” Crum said.

The Crums also house and raise alpacas on the ranch and sell the alpaca fiber.

On occasion, the ranch has allowed small groups to walk around, feed the alpacas, and take some selfies with them.

“They’re fun to look at because they’re a cute animal, but there’s a lot more to it than that.” Watching their behavior is amazing,” Crum said.

Information on small group tours at Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch can be found here website.

You can find one too link here with additional information on how to donate to the ranch.
