Someone calls HR Chicago Medbecause another doctor leaves the hospital: Brian Tee, who is Dr. Ethan Choi will be leaving the NBC drama later this year after eight seasonsour sister site Deadline reports.
Tee’s final appearance will be in Episode 9 entitled “Could Be the Start of Something New” which airs December 7th. (He will return with Episode 16 to make his directorial debut.)
Tee has starred in the series since its debut in 2015 but was temporarily absent for a large part of season seven while filming the upcoming Prime Video series foreigners to Nicole Kidman. Ethan eventually returned to the hospital after recovering from a gunshot wound and surgery, even meeting his ex April (former series star Yaya DaCosta) in the season 8 premiere.
By the deadline, Tee decided to leave medication to spend more time with his family and pursue other career opportunities.
“I play Dr. Ethan Choi next Chicago Med was such a gift and blessing,” Tee told the site. “I am forever grateful to our fans and my colleagues in front of and behind the camera as I embark on a new journey. I am forever indebted to Dick Wolfe, NBC and Universal Television for choosing me.”
The actor went on to tell Dr. Describing Choi’s farewell as “appropriate” and “beautiful.”
“I think the fans are going to absolutely love it,” Tee said. “It’s going to bring a little bit of the new ethane and a little bit of the old. Know that Episode 9 will be great.”
Tee’s exit isn’t the only blow Chicago Med this season: Guy Lockard, who sees ED pediatrician Dr. Dylan Scott played, left the show in the Season 8 premiere. He was the second regular from last season’s new series to leave the show, after Kristen Hager, aka Dr. Stevie Hammer, who said goodbye mid-season.
