‘Chicago PD’ Recap Season 10 Episode 17: #Burzek Is [Spoiler]

Healing is a slow and difficult journey, and Kim Burgess learned that during her therapy Chicago P.D

She admitted on Wednesday’s episode that she did the work: Sleep techniques, exposure therapy, meditation and even exercise, but I still didn’t get better. Her therapist assured her that eventually she would.

Burgess also turned down the suggestion that Ruzek be taken to a session. While she acknowledged that her PTSD affected her performance at work, she still denied how it affected her personal life as well.

Meanwhile, the intelligence officer was responding to an armed robbery at a supermarket. What she and the rest of the squad quickly found out was that there were two suspects, including a woman named Ruby, whose rape equipment was used to identify her. Burgess and Upton felt it was unethical to adhere to this DNA sample, and Voight argued that it was perfectly legal to do so. The case followed the real-life example of a San Francisco woman suing the police for using her rape kit in a criminal case.

As he looked at the evidence — Ruby accused a colleague of rape, recanted, and then withdrew — Burgess sympathized with Ruby. She understood the trauma signs Ruby was showing and tried to help her.

Burgess brought Ruby to the site of their attack and eventually tricked her into opening up and helping them complete their case. Burgess caught up with Ruby’s assailant and co-conspirator, who drew a gun on the Chicago cop. She took it down without hesitation.

After the fall, Burgess eventually agreed to take Ruzek to a therapy session. Ruzek claimed that Burgess’ PTSD did not affect their relationship. However, he also shared that at times they were out of sync, that he felt like he wanted more and didn’t think she felt the same way. This struck a chord with Burgess, revealing that she always felt the way he did. Then she stopped before she could finish her sentence.

At home, Ruzek asked Burgess what she wanted to say earlier, and Burgess finally got it. She was too scared, so she pulled away from him. And just when it looked like they were about to pull away from each other, Burgess pulled Ruzek in for a kiss. The pair quickly ripped each other’s clothes off and headed toward the bedroom.

It’s safe to say that #Burzek is back.
