Chicago PD Season 10 Episode 4 Recap: Torres Just Like Voight?

The following contains spoilers from Wednesday Chicago P.D Proceed accordingly.

Make no mistake: Chicago P.D‘s Dante Torres is no pushover.

When the rookie cop was told to leave his own neighborhood, he took matters into his own hands. He took off his badge and gun and attacked the man who was threatening his family, effectively telling everyone he was going nowhere.

Benjamin Levy Aguilar in Chicago PD“In that moment, he knew it was the only way forward and he didn’t think about the potential repercussions,” Benjamin Levy Aguilar, who plays Torres, told TVLine. “He was like, ‘Okay, here’s someone threatening my family… And if you don’t want to take it the right way, I’m going to show you fear and pain. I will do anything to make you respect me and never think of hurting my family.’ It was like a very animal, raw, real part of him just coming out.”

And while it showed that he will “do what is necessary to protect himself and his family,” Aguilar also notes that there will “definitely be more paranoia.” When it comes to Torres, he’s “wholehearted and he really just wants to do the right thing, but he also has a side that shouldn’t be tested.”

Torres’ unpredictable reaction to the threat against his loved ones draws parallels with Voight, who is also known for doing things his own way. (Remember the time the Sergeant shot his son’s killer?) Aguilar also recognizes the similarities between the two characters, pointing out that Voight and Torres are “cut from the same cloth.”

“They are very similar,” he adds. “I think that’s why they respect each other because Voight had to agree that Torres will be a part of it. It wasn’t just Halstead. There are so many similarities that I can’t wait to explore this relationship when we get the chance… There’s a lot to unpack there.”
