LAPD officer shoots and injures man with knife

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Police officers shot and injured a man who allegedly had a knife in downtown Los Angeles overnight.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday near 7th Street and Broadway. The officers had been flagged down by a community member who told them about a man with a knife.

They confronted the man, but police said he ignored their commands and walked away. The department said on social media that 40mm foam bullets were used.

The man fled from officers in the area of ​​Spring Street and 6th Street. According to police, he then attacked an officer with a knife in his hand. The officer then opened fire, wounding the suspect.

He was taken to hospital in stable condition. No one else was injured.
