David Tennant & Catherine Tate are returning to Doctor Who

Fresh off the news that sex education Ncuti Gatwa is set to become the next owner and operator of the TARDIS, with returning showrunner Russell T. Davies having more fanservice up his sleeve. Davies announced via press release that David Tennant and Catherine Tate would reprise their roles of the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble in 2023 as part of the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations. “Maybe that’s a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback,” he said. “The only thing I can confirm is that when two of our biggest stars reunite for the fight of their lives, it’s going to be spectacular.”

Donna and Ten (as Tennant’s Doctor is known in fan communities) did not part on the best of terms. Donna had absorbed the Time Lord’s intellect, turning her weak human brain into goosebumps. So the Doctor had to erase all of Donna’s memories of saving the galaxy, undo years of character development, and generally be a huge disappointment. But then Ten died saving her grandfather, so it’s probably cool now. Post Office-doctor who Tennant and Tate reunited onstage for a production of A lot of noise about nothing that played on their undeniable chemistry on the show.
