DC fans are now canonizing two films that don’t exist to make sense of a spinoff

birds of prey wasn’t the best-received DC project, but it wasn’t the worst either. The film largely ignores the world-building Zack Snyder put together, and now one fan has a theory as to why.
If you didn’t know, Snyder had a five-movie plan for the main DC story. It started with man of Steelfollowed by Batman v Superman and then Snyders justice league and it would have ended up with two more Justice League movies. The plot would have involved Superman coming to Darkseid after Lois died, eventually ending with Batman sacrificing himself to save Lois and keep Superman from ever going bad.
The theory draws heavily on plot points that would have been used in Snyder’s sequels as it suggests the reason we don’t see Batman birds of prey is because the film takes place after the events of The Justice League 2 and 3.
Unfortunately, these two films were never made, so using a plot that never existed to fill an apparent gap in another film’s narrative is quite a stretch. Many were skeptical of the theory, pointing out reasons why it wouldn’t make sense.

birds of prey came out at a time when the DCU was going through a crisis; The absence of Batman is more due to Affleck being done with the character. However, it’s fun to speculate and make headcanons like this. However, none of that matters anymore as James Gunn and Peter Safran wipe away that continuity and basically start from scratch.
